Such installations are now covered by the Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.

What is EET / PAT testing?

Electrical Equipment Testing (EET) formally known as PAT Testing is the examination of all electrical equipment to ensure it is safe to use.

What appliances need to be tested?

The inspection and testing process covers the inspection and testing of all electrical equipment that is connected to, or could be connected to the fixed installation, this also includes electrical equipment connected to a fused spur.

Is Electrical Equipment Testing / PAT Testing a legal requirement?

The simple answer is NO! There are currently no laws in place saying your required to carry out electrical equipment testing (PAT Testing).
But.. there are laws in place that as a duty holder, it is your responsibility to keep your employess and customers safe. Failing to do this, you could be fined or serve a prison sentence.
